Space and lots of it - Le Littre Rive Gauche — Hotel: In Paris you can choose to stay somewhere very stylish like 'Petit Moulin' or 'The Five' or one of Mr Starck's numerous hotels, known for design not space. This hotel is perfect for those who need space and is well located on the Left Bank.

Rooms: There's a strong emphasis to cater for kids, child's menu via room service, cartoons and starting from 150 euros for a standard to 450 euros for a suite. The suites are enormous and most have a sitting room and large bathroom. This one is for those who like 'homey' comforts, and have large suitcases.

St Paul Hotel - Rive Gauche — The Hotel: You relax instantly when you enter this hotel, there's a real casual but elegant ambiance. Particularly good for families as there is either a duplex or two connecting rooms.

The superior rooms are larger than most hotels and the majority have recently had their bathroom renovated. All rooms have air-conditioning, Wifi, (or a shared computer). All the rooms are individual. You can request a four-poster bed, room with Jacuzzi but all with lovely high ceilings. Breakfast is in a charming 'cave' that has recently been renovated.

Around the Hotel: The very popular local restaurant, 'Les Comptoirs', cafe 'Les Editeurs' and an assortment of Chinese, Japanese and of course local French bistros. Well positioned, it's a ten minute walk to either St. Germain or Notre-Dame Cathedral and 3 mins to the wonderful Jardin du Luxembourg.

You'll like: The homey ambiance and reception. Exposed beams in most rooms, walking to most attractions and the quiet street. The resident cat 'Sputnik' is so popular he almost has his own email account.
