A lovely wine bar/pub that caters for children during the day. The evenings can be busy. It is apparently run by a swedish couples which is reflected in the menu, Swedish delicacies such as savoury tart (with peppers, courgette and broccoli, £5.30), gravalax (£6.30) and hot-smoked salmon (£7.30)

Tiles Cafe Bar
This really cool bar is a great spot for lunch or early dinner. Children are welcome, however wouldn't recommend staying after 8pm as a different crowd moves in. Located centrally at St. Answer Square, expect a ok bar menu, there's outdoor seating in Summer, however the interior decor is quite stunning. Told the service can be quite slow, so good luck with this one.

Royal Botanic Garden
If you want to be really organised you can organise a tour with an experienced guide to better understand the garden. There's usually a special event held most Sunday. There are four in Edinburgh so check the site for which one suits, Benmore, Dawyck, Logan and Rhododendron.

My two children loved this museum. There are lots of interactive activities, taxidermy of extinct animals and always an exhibition or event on. See their site for full details. Great on a rainy day. There's a cafe for lunch.
