L'Etape Gourmande

Put this high on my list for family friendly places, there's a mini farm for kids to explore. Their menu is predominantly farm fresh produce. No cola or 'frites' here.

Children can visit the rabbit pen, goats and others animals while mum and day finish their local wine with some Chevre, specialty of the farm.

Domaine de la Tortinière

Not only is it an elegant dining but a great place to take kids. High chairs, games and activities are immediately brought to the table to keep the young ones amused. At your request, children can be fed prior to your own ‘gastronomic’ dish arriving.

La Gerbe d'Or

Not really a'family' restaurant but ones that serves very fine bistro food, service is relaxed and comfortable and their 'menu enfant' is excellent. Slightly, better than a quick pizza for the parents! Here you can try some authentic Tourangelle cuisine.

The pretty town of Loches has wonderful activities for kids (see don't miss the dungeon. Dining in the shade of wisteria is a enjoyable way to spend an evening or lunch.

La Chope

A family friendly affair specialising in regional cuisine and seafood and a very good 'menu enfant'. Sunday lunch its very popular with the 'after church' crowd and fills up quickly; you'll see large tables of French families for their Sunday get together.

Chateau des Sept Tours

Dad loves to Golf. Mum likes to Shop and kids just want to have fun. Everyone can be happy in this wonderful country chateau not far from the pretty villages of Langeais, Luyns Saumur and Tours.

Families are afforded comfort in larger rooms situated in the Orangerie, (once very fabulous stables). Don’t worry they have been converted into elegant rooms and several small apartment which are suitable for family members of 4 or 5. They are located a stone throw away from the chateau.

A heated outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and vast grounds should also amuse the children. The chateau also caters for families by offering a choice of more casual dining in the bistro or if they wish, more formal dining in the chateau’s elegant restaurant. Babysitting is organised via prior arrangement.

There are wonderful attractions in this area for families such as horse riding, visiting the historical chateaus of Langeais, where in summer actors parade in medieval costumes . The La Flèche Zoo is only 30 minutes away and is a great day out. The historic town of Angers just under an hour.

It would be hard to find both luxury and comfort and enough activities to please everyone!

FLUNCH

While a cafeteria style venue, and often very crowded, the food is fast, reasonably fresh and a little healthier than McDonalds. Found in most major shopping complexes such as Auchan and CarreFour.

Bellacitta

Fresh pasta, good pizzas and italian wines in a joli environment. Although set in the middle of a commercial zone, its good value for money.

La Farfala

In summer be seated on the terrace and admire the beauty of this medieval town, Loche. I’m recommending this place because while the kids are having their ‘ham and pineapple’ pizza the parents can order a ‘Fegato’ pizza topped with ‘fois gras, smoked duck and a light cream, it might sound rich but its delicious especially with a glass of cold chablis.
