A day in Montmarte

This district still retains a bohemian feel and excitement of the days when artists, writers and painters lived and worked. There’s a superb walk around the 'Cimetiere Montmarte' start at 20 avenue Rachel - and don’t miss the view from the 'Sacre Coeur'. If you stay in the area dress casual chic and take a break at the über hip ice bar - Hotel Kube in the Passale ruelle.

Below, Easter at the Sacred Heart, Montmarte. See if you can visit while a choir is in progress.

Don't miss the 'sand and sun' along the Seine, from mid July to end of August) from the Hotel de Ville to Pont Neuf, you can play, dance and sing in the sand (man made of course) and catch a little Parisian sun.

Fête de la Musique -- Reggae to classical

The streets of Paris become ever more lively with musicians and their preferred instruments, taking to the streets for live and often impromptu performances. All over Paris (and France), musicians play their favourite tunes to an appreciative crowd. As many of the streets are closed due in part to makeshift stages, it might be wise to walk around ‘the city of lights’. Main events are always held at the Place de la Republique and Parc de la Villette. There is a formal program I’m told. Held in June each year.

Amélie at Café des Deux Moulins

While this should probably be in our ‘EAT’ section, its a ‘must’ for all fans of the movie, Amélie. Many of Audrey Tautou's scenes working in the restaurant were filmed here. And now, thanks to thousands of tourists, the owner is thinking of retiring in St. Tropez.

I don’t think many locals go here but you will be served traditional french cuisine such as 'escalopes of veal in a cream sauce', 'beef filets' and 'calf’s liver' however you can also choose a hamburger with a glass of crisp chablis. Afterwards wonder the streets for more 'Amélie' sightings. If you want a private tour, let us know.
